Multitrade supplies different types of drill bits, which include the basic types used for wood, metal and masonry. Two main types of wood drill bits are available. Both are characterized by the small point at the tip of the bit. They will cut clean, straight holes. They are suitable for all types of wood and come in a wide range of sizes and lengths. The basic drill bits for metal work have a straight shank. They are supplied in either short or long series, are right hand rolled forged, and steam tempered. Ground drill bits are of a higher quality. They have a silvery color, sharp edges and a tip which will easily cut through most metals, including stainless steel. Masonry bits, sometimes known as 'durium' bits, are used on stone and on tiles. Besides the standard lengths, others are long enough to drill right through Maltese limestone bricks. High quality German drill bits, which can cut through extremely hard tiles and last much longer than others, have recently been introduced.
